On September 24, the law firm Nascimento e Mourão Advogados will host a meeting in São Paulo to discuss the implementation of the Biodiversity Law (Law 13.123/2015) and outlooks for COP-17.
This free, in-person event will bring together private sector representatives and experts to debate the impacts of the law’s most recent implementation measures—as well as potential COP decisions—on companies engaged in research, development, and innovation.
“On the eve of COP-17, the most important international conference on biodiversity, this meeting aims to discuss key topics of interest to the business sector,” states João Emmanuel Cordeiro Lima, a partner at Nascimento e Mourão Advogados.
According to partner Anita Pissolito Campos, the meeting will also address challenges and opportunities arising from the implementation of the multilateral benefit-sharing mechanism associated with access to and use of digital sequence information (DSI) on genetic resources. Partner Bianca Oliveira Begossi further highlights the analysis regarding the implementation of the Nagoya Protocol and advancements in SisGen 3.0.
The meeting will take place on September 24, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, in São Paulo. Participation is free upon prior registration, and the venue will be announced to participants shortly.
