Sema-CE receives proposals for the implementation of a Reverse Logistics system for Post-Consumer Textile Waste.

The Ceará State Secretariat for the Environment and Climate Change (SEMA-CE) recently released information that it is accepting proposals for Commitment Agreements (Tenders of Commitment) for the implementation of Reverse Logistics systems for Post-Consumer Textile Waste in the state.

According to a notice published in the State Official Gazette (DOE) on August 12 of this year, manufacturers, importers, recyclers, and co-processors of post-consumer textile waste may submit proposals for Commitment Agreements, either individually or through representative entities such as associations, cooperatives, unions, or institutes. Proposals must include actions targeted at the state of Ceará, even if the proposing entity or company is headquartered in another state.

Objectively, these proposals must:

State the objective of promoting shared responsibility for the life cycle of textile products, encouraging manufacturers, importers, recyclers, and co-processors to implement systems that enable the collection, reuse, and environmentally appropriate disposal of this waste;
Detail the operational steps of the reverse logistics system, the responsibilities of the agents involved, the collection quantities, and progressive geographic targets for the next four years, in addition to the implementation schedule and the location and number of Voluntary Delivery Points (VDPs);
Present an environmental education plan aimed at raising public awareness, as well as guarantees of environmentally appropriate final disposal of the waste.
As established in the call for proposals and schedule, interested parties have until September 12th to submit their Term of Commitment proposals.

The Nascimento e Mourão Environmental team is closely monitoring this agenda and is available for clarification.
